The history of Overbeck Auto Services dates back to when I was tinkering with the
lawn mowers I was using in my mowing business at the age of 13. I was determined
to make the mowers run the way I knew they should. At the age of 16, I began my
courtship with wife and longtime business partner Ann, who was also mechanically
inclined. After graduating from St. Xavier High School, I joined the Navy as a mechanic
and served our country in the Vietnam War.
I got a little banged up and returned with a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart and
then joined the staff at Courtesy Chevrolet. I was hired to sweep the floor and
within 5 years, I was named Head Technician. The entrepreneurial bug continued to
bite and in 1975, I purchased an Oakley automotive repair business from Garrett
Coffman. From that point on, I’ve been positioning myself and my team as expert
repair and diagnostic technicians. I’m an Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certified
Master Technician in autos, heavy-duty trucks and engine machinery.
24 years ago I was given the opportunity to fill in on a radio program and I have
been spreading my knowledge and auto advice ever since on the airwaves. I’ve hosted
Autoline on popular stations like WVXU, NPR, WCKY and 55WKRC. Currently, "Autoline:The
Fastest 4 Hours in Radio" can be heard on Oldies 1160AM WDJO on Saturday mornings
from 7-11AM.
I’m lucky to celebrate more than 30 years in business with my wife Ann and David
Blathers, our Service Manager, has been with us for 25 years. A few years ago, my
son Matt, joined the team as General Manager. As automotive design and technology
continues to change, so does Overbeck Auto Services. We’re constantly training to
keep up with the changes so we can continue to exceed our customers’ expectations.
Although Cincinnati has some great repair shops, we’re confident that we can take
care of you and your vehicles better than anyone.
